MUSIC THEORY

I make use of the lessons that I developed while teaching music at Vanguard University and while working with Ron Welty (drummer for The Offspring, 1985-2002) who wanted a college quality music theory education in a tutored format.

I incorporate relevant music theory into all of my instrumental instruction and the opportunity for a more comprehensive study is always available for those who wish to learn more.

I provide tutoring for  music theory students from local universities.

Creating an understandable and practical music theory course for beginners through professional musicians has been a passion of mine for over 20 years.

The course covers harmony and voice leading in both the common-practice and popular genres.  Either one can be emphasized based on the need and interest of the student.   The goal is to provide you with the understanding needed to analyze, arrange and write music.
